The Library of Congress has developed an Internet-based, searchable database of U.S. newspapers with descriptive information and select digitization of historic pages. Best of all, the information on the National Digital Newspaper Program is available free of charge. Millions of newspaper pages are available. Covered are many years between 1836 to 1922.
