Church Dedication

On Misericordias Sunday, the Wendish – German St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Serbin, Bastrop County, Texas had the joy of being able to dedicate their frame church built in the previous winter. After the undersigned had spoken about the dedication prayer, Pastor Zimmerman preached on Ephesians 2, 19 – 21, and, in the afternoon, the undersigned in Wendish on the Sunday Gospel, John 10: 12-16. On the following day, a third festival worship service, with the celebration of Communion, was held in which Pastor Greif had the sermon.

So now there are, since the end of last year, two congregations of the Lutheran Confessions in this populous settlement. May God, in His grace, grant that the two may live in peace next to each other, and each, on their part, built the Kingdom of God for the salvation of souls.
