Muskau, 1) city (108 m above sea level), 275 hectares (679,525 acres), on the left side of the Lusatian Neisse River, Prussia, Silesia, government district of Liegnitz, county is Rothenburg, Upper Lusatia, district court is in Goerlitz; 4,478 residents in 1910; post office, telegraph, telephone, train station with telegraph service is 2 km: Sommerfeld-Teuplitz-Muskau Line, Weisswasser-Muskau Line; lower district court, civil registration office, military district office, customs office II, office of weights and measures, forest office, general administration of the standing estate of Muskau; 2 Protestant parish churches, I Catholic parish church; girls continuing education school; theater, home museum, hospital, asylum, spa, “Hermann’s spa” (ice baths, sulphur springs, and mud baths), electric and water utilities; branch of the national bank, civil registration office, credit administration; a variety of stores and businesses one would find in a town of this size.
