1. Ha widźu-li pta-ča-ta ća-hnyć,
hdyž li-sćo-wy žoł-ći so štom,
chce my-slič-ka so-bu so kra-dnyć,
we hwě-zdach oak pyta swój dom,
we hwě-zdach pak pyta swój dom.
2. Ha widźu-li mróčelow ćahi
kaž sony puć pod njebjom jěć,
hdyž łuka je płowa, hajk nahi,
chce myslička křidła tež měć,
chce myslička křidła tež měć.
3. Ha widźu-li k zemi so nižić,
spać kwětku tu poslednju hić,
chce myslička k hwězdam so bližić,
tam pokoja žórleško pić,
tam pokoja žórleško pić.
4. Hdźe, myslička, statok swój stajiš,
ty njeměrna podróžnica?
Tam horka, tam z radosću prajiš:
Nětk, nětk sym ja spokojena!
Nětk, nětk sym ja spokojena!
16. An Autumn Thought
Translation and lyrics by Gerald Stone
1. Whenever I see the birds turning,
As yellows the leaf on the tree,
A thought steals away with them, yearning
For its home in the stars, to be free.
2. Whenever I see the clouds sailing,
Like dreams moving under the sky,
The pasture is pale, the grove ailing,
Then my thought longs for wings for to fly.
3. Whenever I see softly bending
The last flower, as to sleep now it goes,
My thought soars through stars never-ending,
Till it drinks at the well of repose.
4. Will you, wandering thought, find a harbour?
Will you ever relinquish your quest?
There above the blue sky will you murmur
Here at last I have entered my rest?
