You are receiving, herewith, a money order of $50 for the account of my son, Herman, because it seems as if he cannot remain in the college buildings during the school vacation as he first wanted to do. I have written him that this time he should come home. His desire was to travel here alone. While it is still possible that you can find a suitable travel companion for him, I am therefore sending him travel money and include my thanks to you.

Hochwürdiger Herr Professor und Conrector!

Sie empfangen hier mit per Money Order zur Kasse meines Sohnes Hermann Funfzig Dollars Currency, da er, wie scheint, die Ferienzeit hindurch nicht im Collegegebäude bleiben kann, wie er erst wollte. Ich hatte ihm geschrieben, er sollte dießmal nach Hause kommen. Er hat Lust allein hieher zu reisen. Weil sich aber doch noch ein passende Reisegesellschaft für ihn finden könnte, so schicke ich ihm für solchen Fall Reisegeld und schreibe ihm selbst meine Gedanken.
