B. 064. The Ring

(By Jan Peter Jordan)
Translated by Ed Bernthal

The dove has white feet,
Flies into the field in the morning,
Flies to the window of the goldsmith:
‘Is the ring ready yet?’

“Oh, the ring has been done a long time,
But it is not paid for yet.”
‘How much should I pay for it?’
“You should give me a dollar.”

‘I am glad to give you a dollar,
Since it is for my sweetheart
For her hand, her little one,
On her finger, the white one.’

No known music.
