According to Burleson County property records, John (Johann) Gruetzner and Magdalena Gruetzner sold to John (Johann) Proft a parcel of land amounting to 114 acres situated in the John Brown survey for the purchase price of $285.00 in gold. The sale is dated 14 July 1872. This was part of a large tract of land of approximately 1025 acres purchased by John Gruetzner in the John Brown survey on 5 June 1872. The sale is recorded in Volume M, pages 115 & 116 of the Burleson County property records. Magdalena Gruetzner was John Proft's sister.
