Translated by H. Melvin Symmank

In Spremberg there are Many young boys,
And all gladly go for beer.
As they now come together, Came into the tavern
Have seated themselves at the table.

Laid together all with each other,
Each gave a Dreier [small coin]
Bring here to us, Bring beer and wine, we want
All that gladly To pay you.

As they sat there, Having drunk their full
Have merrily, Rejoiced themselves.
If we only had here, Our little dice,
We would play at our Favorite game.

The beloved Threw the seventeen eyes
He threw a glance Toward her.
'Oh, you beloved heart, Precious, sweet girl,
How shall I now Forget your sorrow!’

The beloved Was so sorry for him,
But dared not Show it.
'Jump, Most beautiful, Over the little bar,
Would give our handsome hands.'
