Translated by H. Melvin Symmank

A boy came here from Wittichenau,
A beautiful maiden weeding flax.
'Good Evening!' he said to her
But it was bright day(light).

'Girl, you have white feet,
O do not dirty them.'
"What is it to you about my feet?
You are not my beloved."

'You will already soon become my beloved,
Come and hold my steed for me.'
"(I) will truly hold your steed for you
But (you) will not be my beloved."

'I have already loved many,
I have forgotten (them) all.'
"You will I also forget
When I see you no more."
